Abstract: (11 Views) |
| Oversight, as a general concept, encompasses a set of legal and constitutional procedures, as well as administrative mechanisms, employed by the government or legal and constitutional bodies to monitor the activities of political parties. Oversight of political parties in Iraq is a fundamental and crucial means of ensuring their compliance with applicable laws and the constitution, promoting democratic practice, and protecting the political system from deviation. Iraqi law, in several articles, outlines mechanisms and establishes foundations for oversight of political parties and organizations. Article 3, for instance, aimed to regulate the provisions and procedures related to the establishment and activities of political parties, achieve the principle of political and partisan pluralism based on constitutional legitimacy, and guarantee citizens' freedom to establish, join, or withdraw from political parties. Thus, the law's primary objective is to regulate the establishment and activities of political parties, realize the principle of political and partisan pluralism in accordance with the Iraqi constitution, and grant citizens the freedom to establish and join political parties. |
